Care and Maintenance about Spectrophotometer
October 25,2022
A spectrophotometer is a measuring instrument that uses discontinuous wavelengths to sample reflective or transmissive objects. Today we will introduce it to you.
Because the molecular structure of different objects is different, the absorption capacity of different wavelengths of light is also different. Therefore, each object has a specific absorption spectrum. The instrument that can separate each kind of monochromatic light from the mixed light with various wavelengths and measure its intensity is called spectrophotometer.
Use and maintenance about spectrophotometer
- If the test wavelength is greatly changed, wait a moment, and then re calibrate the "0" and "100%" points after the heat balance of the lamp. Then measure.
- When the pointer instrument is not powered on, the pointer of the meter must be on the zero scale. If this is not the case, mechanical zero adjustments are required.
- Rinse the cuvette with distilled water immediately after use. Wipe off the traces of water with clean and soft gauze to prevent the surface finish from being damaged. Avoid affecting the light transmittance of the cuvette.
- The operator shall not easily move the bulb and reflector lamp to avoid affecting the light efficiency.
- WFZ800-DA and 756 spectrophotometers are characterized by large magnification because their photoelectric receiving devices are photomultiplier tubes. Therefore, it can be used to detect weak photoelectric signal, but not strong light. Otherwise, it is easy to cause signal drift and decrease sensitivity.
- The amplifier sensitivity must be reset after shifting.
- The matching of cuvettes. The cuvette must be used together, otherwise, the test results will lose meaning. A comparison shall be made before each test.
